Project Overview
Hangar One Avionics partnered with the Riverside County Sheriff to equip an Airbus MBB-BK 117 D-2 helicopter as a fully capable multi-mission platform, supporting observation, search and rescue, special operations, and firefighting. The aircraft was outfitted with advanced avionics, integrated communication systems, and mission-critical equipment designed to enhance situational awareness, operational coordination, and rapid response across a wide range of demanding environments.
The configuration includes upgraded transponder systems, power conversion for mission equipment, and a comprehensive communication suite featuring tactical radios, multi-band transceivers, and public address capabilities. A high-performance FLIR camera system paired with mapping technology, video displays, and GPS tracking delivers real-time intelligence and surveillance capabilities. NVIS-compatible lighting, searchlight systems, and scene lighting support day and night operations, while specialized rescue equipment including a hoist, cargo hook, and Bambi bucket provisions enable critical life-saving missions. Combined with custom cockpit organization and mission-focused integrations, the aircraft delivers the versatility, reliability, and performance required for modern public safety operations.
